Sharing his knowledge and experience with colleagues and students is important to Dr. Dowden in Lexington, KY, and one way he does this is as a Volunteer Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Kentucky. Courses taught include: facial surgical rejuvenation with forehead/brow lifting, liposculpting with fat transfer techniques, facial contouring with liposuction and the Omega umbilicoplasty, which is a process to create a new navel. In 1982, he was among the first to introduce transaxillary augmentation mammaplasty (the armpit approach) to Lexington and Kentucky, and in 1983, he performed what is thought to be the first uni-pedicle and bi-pedicle TRAM flaps breast reconstruction surgery in Kentucky. Dr. Dowden continues to pioneer advanced procedures for facelifts, methods for minimally invasive surgery, and the use of multiple fat transfer applications to promote healing and restore youth.
Dr. Dowden does not tell his patients what they must do. Instead, his core philosophy is to help patients come to a decision that is right for them personally. This takes time, patience and good communication. Dr. Dowden and his staff are dedicated to applying this unifying principle in each and every patient relationship.
